SANDY SCOFIELD – NEWS UPDATE

Red Earth the new record from acclaimed composer, musician and singer Sandy Scofield has been a success and winning over new listeners since its release in September, 2022. 

The song “Hummingbirds” dedicated to, and about Colten Boushie and Tina Fontaine, was on the Indigenous Music Countdown for 18 weeks reaching a chart position of #15.  The record also charted both in the Top 30 as well as the Top 10 Folk/Roots/Blues charts on CFUV-FM in Victoria, BC.  The song “D.N.A.” was the Earshot Song Of The Day and received airplay on SiriusXM The Indigiverse.

Currently Sandy is getting ready to hit the road later this year promoting both Red Earth & her music abroad.  One of her highlights will be performing at WOMAD this September being held in South Africa’s oldest city Cape Town.  Here’s a list of Sandy’s upcoming shows for 2023 :

A Métis from the Saulteaux and Cree Nations (she is also French) from Treaty 1 Territory, Sandy hails from four generations of fiddlers, singers and musicians. Among her five recordings to date, she has won five Canadian Aboriginal Music Awards, a Canadian Folk Music Award, a Western Canadian Music Award, an Indian Summer Music Award (U.S.A.) and she received three consecutive Juno nominations. 

Red Earth is dedicated to the memory of the Missing and Murdered Indigenous

Women.
